MaxiDive Co., Ltd. completed an oil stain inspection Thailand project at Koh Si Chang Anchorage. The underwater operation was carried out for a commercial container vessel to verify the condition of the hull plating, bulbous bow, vertical sides, and rudder area following reported oil staining.
The inspection was performed under calm sea conditions with approximately 5 meters of underwater visibility. MaxiDive’s diving team used underwater photographic and video documentation equipment, including an Olympus Tough TG6 and GoPro 11, to record the inspected areas and support the final technical report.

Underwater Oil Stain Inspection Scope
The scope of work included a detailed underwater and waterline-level inspection of the vessel’s hull plating areas where oil staining had been reported or suspected. Diving operations began after vessel lockout was completed, allowing the team to safely inspect the relevant hull areas.
The inspection covered:
Bulbous bow area
Vertical hull sides
Rudder and stern area
Port and starboard side sections
Areas above and below the waterline
Visible coating condition around the affected zones
To improve inspection coverage, divers were separated into two working teams: one covering the port / forward sections and the other covering the starboard / aft sections.
Hull Plating and Rudder Inspection Findings
During the oil stain inspection Thailand operation, the bulbous bow was found free from oil stains. The vessel’s vertical sides were also found free from visible oil staining below the waterline.
At the stern, the rudder area was observed with a light black stain above the waterline on the port side. However, the remaining mark was not oily or sticky to the touch. The inspection confirmed that no oil stain remained on the vessel below the waterline.
Above the waterline, divers observed sporadic small stain locations. These remaining marks were assessed as superficial and appeared to be within the topcoat rather than active oil contamination on the hull surface.

Environmental and Coating Condition Assessment
A key purpose of this underwater inspection was to determine whether any further oil stain removal was required. Based on the diving team’s findings, the remaining marks were not oily, not sticky, and not considered harmful to the marine environment or to the vessel’s topcoat.
The diving supervisor determined after the inspection that there was no further work required for divers to remove additional stains. This conclusion helped the vessel’s representatives make an informed operational decision without unnecessary underwater cleaning work.
Commercial Diving Support at Koh Si Chang Anchorage
Koh Si Chang Anchorage is one of Thailand’s key operational areas for commercial vessels waiting for port calls, cargo operations, or technical attendance. MaxiDive regularly supports shipowners, managers, and vessel representatives in this area with underwater inspection, hull condition assessment, propeller services, and class-related diving operations.
This project demonstrates MaxiDive’s ability to provide fast and structured underwater oil stain inspection services directly at anchorage, supported by photographic evidence, technical reporting, and experienced commercial diving teams.
Professional Underwater Inspection Reporting
Each MaxiDive underwater inspection is completed with structured documentation suitable for vessel managers, technical departments, insurers, and other relevant stakeholders. The report for this project included vessel particulars, operational conditions, inspection scope, photographic evidence, diver observations, and final findings.
By confirming that no active oil stain remained below the waterline and that the remaining above-waterline marks were superficial, MaxiDive helped support safe vessel operations and clear technical decision-making.
Conclusion
MaxiDive successfully completed the oil stain inspection Thailand project at Koh Si Chang Anchorage. The inspection confirmed that the bulbous bow and vertical sides were free from oil stains, no oil stain remained below the waterline, and only minor superficial marks were observed above the waterline near the stern / rudder area.
The findings showed that no further underwater oil stain removal was required, allowing the vessel to continue operations with documented confirmation of hull condition.
