MaxiDive completed Hull Inspection and Propeller Polishing for a commercial vessel at Kerry Siam Seaport, Thailand. The operation supported underwater condition verification, propeller maintenance and technical documentation while the vessel remained afloat.


The scope included underwater inspection of hull plating, appendages, propeller assemblies and rudder assemblies. MaxiDive’s commercial diving team also removed heavy rope entanglement from the propeller area and completed propeller polishing to Rubert Scale grade A.


The work was carried out using underwater camera equipment, GoPro documentation, hydraulic tools, hand tools and other professional commercial diving equipment.

Hull Inspection and Propeller Polishing Scope at Kerry Siam Seaport


The project combined underwater hull inspection with propeller polishing and close-range documentation of critical underwater areas. This type of operation helps vessel managers review underwater condition, identify findings that require attention and maintain reliable ship husbandry records without dry docking.


The operation included:


  • Underwater hull inspection

  • Appendage condition documentation

  • Propeller assembly inspection

  • Heavy rope entanglement removal

  • Propeller polishing to Rubert Scale grade A

  • Rope guard and seal assembly check

  • Rudder assembly documentation

Hull and Appendage Condition Documentation


During the inspection, the bulbous bow area showed abrasion consistent with operational contact. The overall vertical sides were documented in good condition, the flat bottom was free from signs of grounding, and the stern arrangement was free from damage and abnormalities.


Appendage areas were also checked. Transducers were secure in place, sea chest gratings were secure and fastened, discharges were in good condition, ICCP components were free from damage and abnormalities, visible drain plugs showed no leakage, bilge keels were in good condition, and the thruster area was free from damage and abnormalities.


This type of documentation provides useful technical evidence for vessel managers and supports future maintenance planning.

Rope Entanglement Removal from Propeller Area


A key part of this project was the removal of heavy rope entanglement from the propeller assembly. Rope and debris around the propeller area can affect vessel operation and may create additional risk if not removed promptly.


MaxiDive’s commercial diving team removed the entanglement and documented the propeller area after the operation. The seal assembly was found free from leakage, and the rope guard was documented in good condition.

Propeller Polishing to Rubert Scale Grade A


After inspection and rope removal, the propeller was polished to Rubert Scale grade A. This improves blade surface condition and supports more efficient propeller performance by reducing surface roughness caused by marine growth and operational wear.


The inspection also documented moderate cavitation on the propeller blades and damage on one blade. These findings were recorded for the vessel’s technical review.


The boss cap was found secure, with the keeper intact.


Rudder Assembly and Niche Area Findings


The rudder assembly was also inspected as part of the underwater scope. The inspection hatch was secure in place, the drain plug and keeper were intact, and the overall topcoat and weld seam were documented in good condition.


The inspection also noted fully depleted rudder anodes and heavy marine growth in niche areas. These findings are important for vessel maintenance planning because niche areas can retain marine growth and may require closer attention during future underwater cleaning or dry-dock planning.
