Vertical Side Cleaning Thailand at Koh Si Chang Anchorage

MaxiDive completed a professional vertical side cleaning Thailand operation for a commercial vessel at Koh Si Chang Anchorage.
The project focused on removing marine growth from accessible vertical hull surfaces while simultaneously documenting the visible condition of the hull, underwater appendages, propeller-related areas and rudder assembly.
The commercial diving team worked in calm sea conditions with approximately 2–3 meters of underwater visibility, using hydraulic and hand tools to complete the agreed cleaning scope while recording relevant underwater findings for technical review.
Vertical Side Cleaning Thailand with Hull Condition Assessment
The vertical side cleaning Thailand scope covered accessible port and starboard hull surfaces where marine growth had accumulated.
Before cleaning, the vertical sides showed a combination of soft and hard marine fouling, including:
algae;
slime;
barnacles;
tube worm growth.
The commercial diving team systematically treated accessible vertical hull surfaces using appropriate underwater cleaning equipment.
Following completion of the cleaning scope, the accessible vertical sides were documented as free from visible marine growth.
The operation also provided an opportunity to assess coating condition and identify areas requiring future technical monitoring.

Hull Plating and Coating Findings
During the underwater work, the diving team visually assessed the condition of accessible hull plating.
The visible coating was generally observed to be in fair condition. Localized areas of exposed steel were also identified and documented.
In the bow area, loss of topcoat consistent with abrasion was observed and recorded for technical review.
No visible structural abnormalities or significant underwater hull damage were identified within the accessible inspected areas.
No concave weld seams were observed during the underwater condition assessment.
Documenting these findings after marine growth removal provides vessel managers with a clearer view of the actual hull surface condition.

Underwater Appendage Condition
The operation included visual assessment of accessible underwater appendages and fittings.
Sea chest gratings were observed to be secure, with no visible movement, contact damage or abnormalities.
Bilge keel areas showed marine growth before completion of the agreed underwater scope. Their visible structural condition was documented during the operation.
Accessible discharge areas were also inspected. No significant structural abnormalities were observed, although localized barnacle accumulation was noted around selected openings.
ICCP components, transducers and accessible drain plugs were visually checked and documented.
The inspected drain plugs were observed to remain securely in position with no visible evidence of leakage.
Visible sacrificial anodes were also assessed as part of the underwater condition documentation.

Propeller and Stern Area Inspection
The propeller assembly was visually examined during the operation.
Calcareous deposits were observed on parts of the propeller assembly, while the accessible propeller blades were documented as being in generally good visible condition.
The stern shaft area was observed to be free from significant marine fouling.
Propeller condition documentation is valuable for vessel managers because even when no immediate corrective action is required, underwater photographs and video provide a baseline condition reference for future comparison.
Rudder Condition Documentation
The rudder assembly was also included in the visual condition assessment.
The accessible rudder surfaces were observed to be generally free from marine growth.
The visible coating condition was assessed as fair overall, with localized areas of missing coating and exposed steel noted around the leading-edge area.
Accessible niche areas were documented, together with the rudder hatch, drain plug and visible sacrificial anode condition.
No visible leakage was observed around the inspected drain plug.
These findings were recorded as part of the technical underwater documentation provided following the operation.

Why Hull Cleaning and Condition Documentation Work Together
Marine growth can obscure coating condition, localized abrasion and other surface characteristics.
Completing underwater hull cleaning together with structured visual documentation allows vessel managers and technical superintendents to obtain a clearer understanding of actual hull condition.
After accessible surfaces are cleared, the diving team can document:
coating deterioration;
exposed steel;
abrasion marks;
visible structural abnormalities;
weld condition;
appendage condition;
anode condition;
marine growth remaining in niche areas.
This information can support future maintenance planning and provide a useful comparison point for subsequent inspections.
Vertical Side Cleaning at Koh Si Chang Anchorage
Koh Si Chang Anchorage is an important operating location for commercial vessels requiring underwater ship husbandry support in Thailand.
For this operation, MaxiDive combined underwater vertical-side cleaning with systematic condition documentation while the vessel remained afloat.
The use of commercial diving equipment, hydraulic tools, hand tools and underwater photo/video systems allowed the team to complete the agreed work while providing useful visual information to the vessel’s technical personnel.
MaxiDive provides professional hull cleaning, underwater inspection, propeller services and other commercial diving support in Thailand, subject to applicable operational and location-specific requirements.
Clear Underwater Information for Vessel Managers
A professional underwater operation should provide more than a visibly improved hull surface.
Technical documentation gives vessel operators a direct underwater record of the condition observed during the work.
By documenting hull plating, coating condition, appendages, propeller components, rudder areas and visible anodes, the diving team provides information that can support:
vessel condition monitoring;
future maintenance planning;
technical review;
comparison with future underwater inspections;
identification of areas requiring additional attention.
MaxiDive provides professional vertical side cleaning Thailand services at suitable operating locations, supported by experienced commercial diving teams and structured underwater documentation.
